Frequently billed as her last single recording as part of the Supremes, this was actually Diana Ross's first solo record, as neither of the other Supremes took part on the session. The song was written by Johnny Bristol and he in fact recorded it as far back as 1961 on the smaller Tri-Phi Label with little success. As a Motown house-writer, Bristol reenergised the song for Diana Ross and in fact thats him you can hear shouting encouragement to her on the record !
