A Southern Soul/Blues man born blind in Montgomery, Alabama, Carter had minor hits during the 60's for the Atlantic Label. He recorded this song in late '69, originally written by General Johnson and Ron Dunbar and recorded as a B Side by them as Chairmen Of The Board. It became a huge international success crossing over to reach No 4 US Pop and No 2 UK in 1970.
