Interesting history behind this UK No 1, Dusty originally heard the Italian version whilst sat in the audience at the annual San Remo Music Festival. A year went by before English lyrics were added by Simon Napier-Bell and Vicki Wickham (a friend of Dusty's) On the day of recording, it apparently took 47 takes of the vocal before Dusty was satisfied, she sang it in a stairwell ! The B Side is worth checking out. Originally a Stax record, performed by Carla Thomas, Dusty's version is great.
