The Magistrates were a metamorphosis personnel-wise of the early 60's doowoppers The Dovells. 1968 was a confusing year for songs with this title. There were two with completely different lyrics doing the rounds. The first by Motowner Shorty Long hit the US Top Ten and made the lower reaches of the UK Chart. The second, originally recorded by Pigmeat markham was a completely different song, released about the same time, and covered here by the Magistrates but with little chart success on either side of the Ocean
