John Fred and his band originally formed in 1956 and had a US hit in '59 with a song called 'Shirley'. A succession of singles followed through the early to mid-60's before he and a fellow band member wrote 'Judy' in 1967 as a parody of the Beatles' Lucy In The Sky...' It went to No 1 in the States and was a Top Ten Hit in the UK also. Sadly there was no further chart success for the band.
