McDuff was a highly prolific Organist, bandleader and sideman recording many albums for the jazz label Prestige during the late 50's to early 60's. He joined Atlantic in '66 and eventually recorded four albums, these two tracks were taken from his first' A Change Is Gonna Come'. 'Down In The Valley' was a funky soul-jazz version instrumental version of the old Solomon Burke hit.
