Manchester Beat Group, Maclaine was initially backed by the Dakotas, who were persuaded to become Billy J Kramer's backing group. Maclaine's one and only single release is a typical '63 sound, self-penned by Maclaine. It made little chart penetration but is still held in high regard by followers of the beat genre.
